"Defeat Adolescent Depression: How to Support Adolescent with Depression, Deliberate Self Harm & Negative Emotion"
Adolescents of this generation are facing multiple stresses but are commonly impressed to be weak in problem-solving and resilience, resulting in emotional distress. Some even resort to deliberate self harm to release their internal pain and achieve their personal interests. In this connection, the Social Welfare Department, in conjunction with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Team of the Queen Mary Hospital, Education Bureau and five non-governmental organisations (including Caritas Hong Kong, Hong Kong Family Welfare Society, St. James' Settlement, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Tung Chung Integrated Services and Methodist Epworth Village Community Centre), carried out the 'Defeat Adolescent Depression: How to Support Adolescent with Depression, Deliberate Self Harm & Negative Emotion' Project in 2014. A booklet summarising the project contents has been published for the public’s reference.
(Chinese version only)
In view of the big challenge of the school social workers and teachers in handling the adolescents’ deliberate self harm at school, we have prepared some information for their easy reference in case management.
