Subsidised Place of Residential Care Home
Objectives
- to provide residential care and facilities for those who, for personal, social, health and/or other reasons, are unable to live at home;
- to promote and maintain the health of elderly as far as possible, and assist them with their varying personal care needs and daily living activities; and
- to meet the social and recreational needs of residents and promote interpersonal relationship among residents in the homes.
Types of Services
There are two types of residential care services, namely care and attention places and nursing home places to meet different care needs of the elderly.
- Care and Attention Places:
Care and Attention Homes for the Elderly provide residential care, meals, personal care and limited nursing care for elderly persons who suffer from poor health or physical/mild mental disabilities with deficiency in activities of daily living but are mentally suitable for communal living, and are assessed and recommended for Care and Attention Home under the Standardised Care Need Assessment Mechanism for Elderly Services. - Nursing Places (providing a higher level of care):
Nursing Homes provide residential care, meals, personal care, regular basic medical and nursing care, and social support for elderly persons who suffer from poor health or physical/mental disabilities with deficiency in activities of daily living but are mentally suitable for communal living, and are assessed and recommended for Nursing Home under the Standardised Care Need Assessment Mechanism for Elderly Services.
Nature of Service
The following services are provided for residents in Care and Attention Homes for the Elderly
- accommodation within shared rooms;
- provision of at least 3 meals a day plus snacks;
- provision of social work service (e.g. assessment, counselling, referrals, programme activities, etc.);
- nursing services, including administration and supervision of medication;
- staff on duty 24 hours per day;
- regular visits by a registered medical practitioner;
- personal care services, including assistance with activities of daily living;
- therapeutic exercise and treatment, on a group or individual basis, to maintain or improve the functioning of residents; and
- activities organised on a regular basis to meet the social and recreational needs of residents, to encourage residents to pursue their interests, and to maintain residents' contact with the community and families.

- $1,660 to $2,060 - Contract Homes
- $2,060 - Private homes participating in the Enhanced Bought Place Scheme (EBPS)
- $1,656 (EA2) to $1,763 (EA1) - Nursing homes participating in the Nursing Home Place Purchase Scheme (NHPPS)
- $2,060 - Residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs) participating in the Residential Care Services Scheme in Guangdong
