Child Care Services

Improving the Accommodation Facilities of Residential Child Care Service

To address the present-day needs of children and youth, SWD has implemented the environment improvement programme (EIP) for small group homes since 2019-20. As at March 2022, allocations from Lotteries Fund have been approved for the EIP of 51 small group homes and 19 of them have completed their renovation works. In addition, to facilitate smooth implementation of the EIP, SWD has provided financial support to 24 participating small group home operators which had applied for rental subsidy to meet the rental expenses in securing suitable temporary accommodation for children during the renovation period.

After School Care Programme for Pre-primary Children

To better meet the child care needs in the community, SWD has re-engineered 19 Mutual Help Child Care Centres (MHCCCs) in phases from 2021-22 to provide after school care service for pre-primary children aged 3 to under 6 through additional provision of social workers and supporting staff. As at February 2022, 10 MHCCCs were re-engineered.
