Recognised Training Courses in Special Child Care Work

To have a course recognised as equivalent to the “One-year In-service Course in Special Child Care Work of Social Welfare Department”, the institutions should apply to the Social Welfare Department (SWD) to ascertain if it meets the stipulated requirements.

To be qualified as a Special Child Care Worker (SCCW), you should first register to be a Child Care Worker.  For registration as Child Care Worker, you may contact the Joint Office for Kindergartens and Child Care Centres of the Education Bureau (EDB) or make reference to the EDB website. When applying for or taking up the post of SCCW, you may be requested by the employer and/or recruiting agency to provide documentary proof issued by the training institutions on completion of the training course(s) in Special Child Care Work recognised by the Director of Social Welfare.   For checking whether the course was recognised or for collection of documentary proof, please approach the training institutions concerned for enquiries.
