Starting from the 2021-22 school year, SWD has increased the number of supporting personnel for school social work services at 463 secondary schools with 58 additional Assistant Clerical Officers and 29 additional Clerical Assistants, thus enabling school social workers to provide more in-depth professional services for students in need.

Child Development Fund

The Government established the Child Development Fund (CDF) in 2008 to draw on the resources of families, the private sector, the community and the Government to promote the longer-term development of disadvantaged children aged between 10 and 16 or studying Primary Four to Secondary Four. CDF funds projects operated by NGOs and schools across the territory by batches. As at March 2022, 169 projects in eight batches operated by NGOs, and 88 school-based projects in eight batches operated by schools have been rolled out, benefitting more than 22 000 children.
