Project Sole Good 2.0 is a project, initiated by Regional Missing Persons Unit Kowloon East (RMPU KE), Hong Kong Police Force in April 2022. The Project promotes the use of positioning devices to track the whereabouts of elderly persons with Dementia by their caretakers. To facilitate cross-sector collaboration and to extend the project in East Kowloon region, social workers of elderly centres in the districts, through networking by Kwun Tong and Wong Tai Sin/Sai Kung District Social Welfare Offices of the Social Welfare Department, are invited to participate in the briefing session organized by RMPU KE on 29.9.2022 in addressing the safety concern of elderly with dementia and contributing to a dementia-friendly society. Mr TAN Tick-yee, Assistant Director (Elderly) of the Social Welfare Department, and Ms Catherine PY WONG, Convener – District Council Focus Team of Towngas joined a tram tour travelling between Wan Chai and Eastern District with the staff members of different service units in the districts to promote the ‘‘Dementia Friendly Community Campaign’’, ‘‘Support for Carers’’ Project and the Carer Hub [which is the District Social Welfare Office (Eastern and Wan Chai)
To enhance the promotional effect, eight street counters were simultaneously set up in Eastern and Wan Chai District to distribute the related promotional leaflets, brochures, and other publicity items to the public on the event day. There were over 50 staff members from the Social Welfare Department and the Non-governmental Organisations in Eastern and Wan Chai District participating in the programme, reaching approximately 30 000 citizens.

Physical Therapy Group: This activity is a physical therapy group to relieve upper and lower limb pain and prevent stroke. Through participating in the group, participants can learn different sports and use in their daily lives to improve their problems.

Teach you how to relieve pain: Physical therapist conducted a talk of pain relief such as shoulders, knee and back pain on that day. Participants enjoyed to learn 10 minutes exercises as well. There were 13 in the session. Group of Happy Cosmos: Worker conducted 4 sessions of Positive Psychology sharing. She emphasized on crucial elements of Give Thanks, Mercy and Hope so as to help them finding way to gain happiness. There were 8 participants n the session. Ease at learning the massage ball: The coach who conduced the training for the participants in order to teach them how to make use of massage ball to lessen their shoulders, waist and knees pain. There were 6 participants in the session. Return to Nature: An Inspector of The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department conducted a talk of natural burial so that the carers could gain more information to make the best choice for their elders. There were 14 participants. Simple Dementia Test for Elderly Persons (Group B) : Conducting dementia screening test for the elderly persons in need with Jockey Club Post-diagnostic Support in Dementia Care Programme. 14 members finished screening test and 5 of them were followed up by detail assessment. Musician‘s group— music therapy group : Conducting 6-session-music therapy group by music therapist for 10 members with MCI or suspected dementia. Maintaining their cognitive ability by various music activities. Dementia Friendly Volunteers training session 1: introduction to dementia: Conducting 2 information sessions for 28 volunteers in 2 groups respectively, introducing the basic knowledge about dementia and communication skills with dementia patients Dementia Friendly Volunteers training session 1: introduction to dementia: Conducting 2 information sessions for 28 volunteers in 2 groups respectively, introducing the basic knowledge about dementia and communication skills with dementia patients Dementia Friendly Volunteers training session 2: practicum of cognitive training activities I : Conducting 3 sessions for 28 volunteers in 2 groups respectively, introducing board games or brain training games and exercises to them by role play and practice. “Dementia Friends” Information Session : Conducting 2-hour-standard-information-session for 11 members by the “Dementia Friends” ambassador staff , with 4 participants’ registrations as “Dementia Friends” on site.

October 2020 - Dementia Related Activities in Yuen Long District

Elderly persons of Sze Tian Rhenish Home for the Elderly and students of SKH Yan Laap Primary School in Tuen Wan/ Kwai Tsing District visited the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre together on 16 January 2019.
Participants appreciated the artwork together. The primary students accompanied the elderly persons to visit the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre. Participants enjoyed the Chinese tea with traditional tea set. The primary student took selfie with the elderly person in a restaurant with Chinese traditional decorations. Elderly persons visited Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre with primary students to promote inter-generational harmony.

"Dementia Friendly Community Campaign" and "Support for Carers" Project - Tuen Mun District Promotion Day was held on 13 Jan 2019 at Tuen Mun Civic Square.
Mr LEUNG Kin-man, BBS, MH, JP, Chairman of Tuen Mun District Council , Mr YU Wai-yip, District Social Welfare Officer (Tuen Mun), Mr CHAN Kwok-pong, Hong Kong Artist, Professor CHAN Chak-kwan, Director of Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies, Lingnan University, and representatives of property management companies took photo in front of the Promotional Trunk. "Dementia Friends" volunteers introduced "Dementia Friendly Community Campaign" and "Support for Carers" Project to the guests. Students of Madam Lau Kam Lung Secondary School of Miu Fat Buddhist Monastery actively took part in the programme and appealed to residents to register as "Dementia Friends". The whole family showed their support to "Dementia Friendly Community Campaign" and "Support for Carers" Project. The Promotional Trunk stationed at different estates in Tuen Mun for educational activities and promoting the "Dementia Friends Community Campaign" and "Support for Carers" Project. Staff of the booth Quality Goods and Services for Elders and Carers introduced daily necessities and services for elderly persons and carers in improving their quality of life.

13 January 2019 -"Dementia Friendly Community Campaign" and "Support for Carers" Project - Tuen Mun District Promotion Day

Ms CHU Wing-yin, District Social Welfare Officer (Yuen Long) officiated the Dementia Friendly Carnival.
The elderly persons and the public learned more about dementia positively through the game stalls. The correct understandings towards dementia were spread to the public by using the stand-up banners. Parents and their children played in the game stalls of Dementia Friendly Carnival together. Elderly volunteers demonstrated Brain Gym on the stage.

12 January 2019 - Dementia Friendly Carnival in Yuen Long District

Ms CHU Wing-yin, District Social Welfare Officer (Yuen Long), and Ms WONG Ngok-ching, Assistant Social Welfare Officer, joined the Creative Art Work and Exhibition program.
Ms CHU Wing-yin, District Social Welfare Officer (Yuen Long), drew with the elderly persons and their carers. Elderly persons and their carers worked on the art work together. The finished art work of the participants. Ms CHU Wing-yin, District Social Welfare Officer (Yuen Long), Ms WONG Ngok-ching, Assistant Social Welfare Officer and the participants took group photo with the art work.

January - March 2019 - Creative Art Work and Exhibition in Yuen Long District

The group members of the Cognitive Training Group for Elderly Persons with Dementia (Thursday) of Wong Tai Sin/ Sai Kung District making use of their creativity to create artwork with choosing their favourite colours.
By pairing different colours, the visual senses and cognitive abilities of the members were stimulated. Two members interacted through computer games, which can help to provide cognitive stimulation, and also enhance their social skills. The member was interested in calligraphy and wrote fai chun for other members to celebrate Chinese New Year.

December 2018 - January 2019 - Cognitive Training Group for Elderly Persons with Dementia (Thursday) in Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung District

Making use of the virtual reality rehabilitation system, the cognitive stimulation activities would be more interesting to the elderly persons and enhance their participation and concentration.
Simple cooking group was organized to remind the elder persons about the fun of cooking. Each session had a different theme, so the elderly persons could look back the sweets and bitters of their lives. The Carer-cared Activity aimed to enhancing the interaction between carers and the cared through festive celebration games, aromatherapy massage and hugs. The participants would even give each other handmade gifts. In the Music garden party, cognitive stimulation was conducted with music to bring fun and entertainment to elderly persons and their carers in a natural environment On the Board Game Day, participants were introduced to different board games in order to extend their exposure and choices in cognitive stimulation activities. They could experience to train their cognitive ability through playing interesting games.

December 2018 - January 2019 - Cognitive Stimulation Programs of District Elderly Community Centres in Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung District

The Briefing session of "Dementia Friendly Community Campaign" and "Support for Carers" Project in Central Western, Southern and Islands District was conducted on 28 October 2018 at Sai Ying Pun Community Complex.
Staff of District Social Welfare Office (Central Western/Southern/Islands) introduced the "Dementia Friends" Staff of the welfare service units in the district actively participated in discussion about "Dementia Friendly Community Campaign" and "Support for Carers" Project District Social Welfare Office (Central Western/Southern/Islands) produced foldable umbrellas for the service units to distribute to the participants in order to promote the "Dementia Friends" Information Session and Ambassadors Workshop.
